NFL Week 11 Mayhem 2013

Another Weekend Down, Another Weekend of Mayhem.

Quick Recap of a few games from Week 11 in the NFL:

We had ourselves a great weekend of football. This weekend more than any other so far shows us exactly how each team is matching up and I think it showed us all who are the real deal and who are the phonies. We also got to witness the last undefeated team of the season lose to the Denver Manning's Sunday night in what was a showing of just how great the Broncos are and how strength of schedule (Kansas City has the easiest strength of schedule thus far) can really make a team look greater than it actually is.

Tampa Bay seems to be rolling now that they have ended their losing streak, and are now on a two game winning streak. The same can be said about the Pittsburgh Steelers who have won 4 of their last 6 after starting 0-4. The New York Giants also are on a winning streak (4 games) of their own, making great strides to make the playoffs after starting 0-6. Just when you thought some teams were out of contention, they show us why every individual in the NFL is great, and for those teams who thought they had a better shot at making the playoffs, show us that you must take every opponent seriously and even then, you might not have enough to overpower them (Everyone point and laugh at Geno Smith and Matt Ryan).

Foles and Eagles are top in NFC East

The Eagles have secured a tight hold on the lead in the NFC East this weekend with a win over Washington. QB Nick Foles, who Coach Chip Kelly has still not decided to be the starting QB once Mike Vick returns, has played outstanding for the time he has started this season. The Eagles also put an end to their current 10-game home losing streak. As for the rest of the division, (Cowboys 5-5, Giants 4-6, Redskins 3-7) the only current team that I believe will be able to contend with the Eagles is looking like the New York Giants who since losing their first 6 have gone on a 4 game winning streak with a great win over the Aaron Rodger-less Packers on Sunday. This division will go down to the final weeks of the season as usual and I expect the Eagles to make it to the playoffs, for now anyways.

Chiefs Go Down in Denver

What a match-up this was. The Chiefs were the only team left without a loss this season and division rival Denver was all too happy to end the streak for them. Who would have thought going into the season that Week 11 would be highlighted by the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos? Certainly not me, but that is the way the season has unfolded and I couldn't wait to see it Sunday night. The Chiefs have certainly not played the way the did when they started the season for these past couple weeks, winning close games to Buffalo, Cleveland, and Houston (all teams are under .500) and it kept going Sunday night against a man that you are only allowed a few mistake against in Denver QB Peyton Manning. The Chiefs are not looking like a top 5 team although their record states otherwise and I wouldn't be surprised if they lose 4 of their next 6 as well as losing in the first round of the playoffs. This team does not have the experience they need to keep them focused when they get down in a game against a formidable opponent.

Saints Go Marching On

The Saints survive a close one at home against the San Francisco 49ers thanks in large to K Garret Hartley. The Saints out gained the 49ers 387-196 yards and if it wasn't for a late sack against QB Drew Brees that was called for penalty the 49ers could have took the game into overtime. The flag gave Brees one too many chances and would set up K Garrett Hartley for a game winning TD as time expired. The 49ers won the turnover battle, causing two forced fumbles and one INT, but the Saints were still able to run 11 more plays than the 49ers and when you are going against an elite QB like Brees you are going to need to keep him off the field more than that if you want to win in the Mercedes-Benz SuperDome. The Saints are #2 in the NFC and keep a firm lead over all other teams in the playoff race besides Seattle.

Well anyways that is just a few headlines from Week 11 of the NFL Season.

Here is a few short recaps from a few games around the league, and also all of the final scores from Week 11 of the NFL.

Thursday Night Football:
IND @ TEN:
The Indianapolis Colts survived a scary one down in Tennessee. Tennessee started the scoring early with RB Chris Johnson scoring two TD's and rushing for 70 yards in the first quarter. The Colts were able to toughen up on the defensive end, only allowing Johnson to rush for 16 yds after that. The Titans went into halftime with a 17-6 lead and it was looking like the Colts were in for another tough loss. The Colts offensive line did a great job, only allowing 1 sack all game after last week's horrendous eight sacks they allowed on QB Andrew Luck. The Titans were held to 10 points in the second half, all coming in the 4th quarter, while the Colts would go on to score 24 points in the second half (17 unanswered to start the half). Only 1 passing TD was thrown in this game, and that was by Titans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick on their final drive of the game. The Colts would go on to run in 3 TD's (2 by RB Donald Brown, 1 by QB Andrew Luck), with their running attack being a focal point as to why the Colts came out of Tennessee with a win.
Final Score:
IND over TEN 30-27

Sunday Afternoon Games:
MIN @ SEA:

This game looked to be a doozy for the Seahawks early as the Vikings would match the Seahawks first 2 scoring drives and make the game 10-10 midway thru the second quarter. Then just as soon as you thought you were in for an even matched game the Seahawks did what has become a usual at home and RB Marshawn Lynch went bulldozing into the end zone for a TD (3 TD's total) as well as a spectacular catch in the back of the end zone to WR Doug Baldwin to give the Seahawks a 24-13 lead going into halftime. The Seahawks would then score 17 unanswered points in the 4th quarter before a garbage time score by QB Christian Ponder late in the 4th. WR Percy Harvin also made his debut for the Seahawks against his former team, only tallying 1 catch for 17 yards, although it was a pretty nice looking leap he made for the ball that caused the home fans to give him a huge applause.
Final Score:
SEA over MIN 41-20
