2013 NFL Week 5 Mayhem

Another Weekend Down, Another Weekend of Mayhem.

Quick Recap of a few games from week 5 in the NFL:

SEA @ INDY:
The Seattle Seahawks lost a tough one to the Indianapolis Colts in Indy. The Hawks had their fair share of penalties this game including a Richard Sherman pass interference call that kept the Colts going on their last drive of the game for the game winning Field Goal. Final Score: IND over SEA 34-28

NE @ CIN:
The New England Patriots also got their first loss of the season in an ugly offensive game in Cincinnati. Tom Brady ends his streak of games with a TD pass. His streak ends at 52 games with a TD pass, two short of the record held by Drew Brees. Cincinnati did not play their best either, with only 1 offensive TD the entire game. CIN over NE 13-6

SD @ OAK:
The late game between the San Diego Chargers visiting in-state/divisional rival Oakland Raiders. Phillip Rivers unfortunately returned to his self of recent past, when he threw for 3 INT's, although he still managed to throw 2 TD's. The young QB Terrelle Pryor had a clutch game where he threw for 2 TD's as well as help sealing the win when he converted on a 3rd down and 14 to set up a Sebastian Janikowski field goal. OAK over SD 27-17

NYJ @ ATL:
What a game for those J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS. They came down to Atlanta to play a 1-3 Falcons team that has had problems scoring when in the RedZone this year. Geno Smith was the player of the game where he was able to hold his composure and direct a game winning field goal drive. Smith had a great night, where he was able to throw 3 TD's (One to big TE Jeff Cumberland who had an very entertaining TD dance in which I still do not know what he was trying to do) and also Smith did not commit a turnover. Falcons head coach Mike Smith had a few head scratching plays this game including a 4th and 1 run on the goal line where he called for all 180lbs of Jacquizz Rodgers to run into the heart of the defense and just as expected he was gobbled up barely making it back to the scrimmage line, Coach Smith passing on a chip shot field goal which would have left them down by a TD instead of 10 pts going into the half. NYJ over ATL 30-28

A quick list of the rest of the scores from Week 5:

HOU @ SF - SF over HOU 34-3
DEN @ DAL - DEN over DAL 51-48
NO @ CHI - NO over CHI 26-18
CAR @ ARI - ARI over CAR 22-6
DET @ GB - GB over DET 22-9
KC @ TEN - KC over TEN 26-17
JAC @ STL - STL over JAC 34-20
BAL @ MIA - BAL over MIA 26-23
PHI @ NYG - PHI over NYG 36-21
BUF @ CLE - CLE over BUF 37-24

We are down to our last 3 undefeated teams. Two are coming out of the AFC West(Broncos & Chiefs), and One is left out of the NFC(Saints). Which will be the last team standing? The last time Peyton Manning and Drew Brees started the season both undefeated, they met in the SuperBowl. Not saying that will be happening this year, but it sure is a good story line to hope for.

Please share on Facebook, Tweet it, Print it, Email it around the office. Most of all thank you for reading.

  1. The Broncos will be the last undefeated team standing and most likely will win the Superbowl. Tony Romo which is a very good quarterback had his best game of his life and still lost to the Broncos, while Peyton Manning had similar statistics and it was just another day at the office for him. The only formula for beating Denver it to hope that they have a bad day and that your team can score a whole bunch of points.
