Seahawks Continue to Dominate NFC West

Here Comes the Boom!

I know the Cardinals heard the BOOM last night. The Seahawks came out playing like they were at the Clink, with Russell Wilson hitting Sidney Rice for a quick 31 yd TD on their opening drive after forcing the Cardinals to punt on theirs. The Cardinals had their trouble on the offense side of the ball with Carson Palmer only throwing for 1 TD and that was in the last 4 1/2 minutes of the game, otherwise known as "Garbage Time".

The Seahawks did give up 2 fumbles inside their own 20, both leading to points on the board for Arizona. Arizona also gave up the ball 2 times on Carson Palmer INT's, one to Safety Earl Thomas on a throw to Larry Fitzgerald and the other to CB Brandon Browner on a pass to Michael Floyd that Browner returned 49 yds and then got tripped up by a little "Turf Monster" but managed to get the ball to the offense on the 1 yd line. That INT led to 2 yd run by Marshawn while the other INT to S Thomas led to a TD pass by Wilson to TE Zach Miller.

The Seahawks went into halftime with the lead 17-10 but you would never guess the game was even this close if it wasn't for Seattle's turnovers. The 10 points by the Cardinals were set up by a 4th and 1 that Seattle was unable to convert on, that gave the ball to the Cardinals on Seattle's 43 yd line, which led to a Field Goal by K Jay Feely. The other score for Arizona in the 1st half was set up thanks to LB Matt Shaughnessy who forced the ball out of Russell Wilson's hands on the 3 yd line which set up a fairly easy Rashard Mendenhall TD.

The 2nd half was Shut-Out time for the Legion of Boom who were able to hold Pro Bowl WR Larry Fitzgerald to 2 catches on the night for only 17 yds. The Hawks defensive line held their own in this game as well, holding the Cardinals to 30 yds on 18 attempts rushing (Whoa!), and were also able to make room on the stat sheet for 7 sacks, their most since the unforgettable "Fail Mary" game last year.

The Seahawks will look to continue their dominance of the NFC West next week when they take on the St Louis Rams in St Louie, while the Cardinals will have the (1-4) Atlanta Falcons coming to town and hopefully get a shot to redeem themselves and keep the NFC West as one of the best divisions in the NFL.

Final Score - SEA over ARI 34-22
