Seahawks Survive a Tough Road Trip in St Louis

Hopefully you were able to check out my preview of this game from yesterday, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS VS ST LOUIS RAMS - MONDAY NIGHT PREVIEW. If not check it out, I had a feeling the game would go the way it did

Russell Wilson will not be forgetting DE's Robert Quinn and Chris Long anytime soon, both sacked the 2nd year QB 3 times each. Seattle's offensive line was looking like it was in shambles, allowing Wilson to get sacked a career high seven times.

Seattle was held to a mere 135 yards on offense, with 80 yards coming on a TD pass to WR Golden Tate. That should tell you about how the Seahawks were playing last night, thanks in large to the pressure by the Rams defense and the Hawks inability to protect Wilson from DE's Quinn & Long. This was the fewest yards the Seahawks have tallied in a win since 2000 when they had 128 total yards of offense against the San Diego Chargers for a win of 17-15 (San Diego similar to St Louis put up over 300 yards of total offense). Russell Wilson is really good at winning in case you haven't noticed yet, since being drafted last year Wilson has 18 wins tied for 2nd in the league in that amount of time with Tom Brady (No surprise here that Peyton Manning is #1 with 20 wins since the beginning of last season).

On another note the offensive line was also unable to make some room for RB Marshawn Lynch, who has held to 8 carries for 23 yards. On the opposite side of the field the Rams actually had a great ground game with rookie RB Zac Stacy rushing for 134 yards on 26 attempts.

With this game taking place only a few blocks away from Game 5 of the World Series (Boston beat St Louis 3-1) the crowd seemed to be more in tune with that game than their Rams almost upsetting the NFC West leading Seattle Seahawks. Well sorry St Louis fans but last night was not your night, I mean you had a chance at the end of the game on the 1 yard line! Saying that I still understand how they were unable to convert on their final drive of the game with backup QB Clemens trying to outplay the one of the best defenses in the league (The Hawks are giving up the lowest completion percentage in the league in red zone plays at 31.6%).

This game seemed ugly on the offensive side but the defenses where what this game was all about. The Rams got 7 sacks on the night, while the Seahawks were able to get 2 interceptions (Seahawks have caused multiple turnovers in each of their 8 games this year, leading the league with 21 on the year).

The Seahawks are now 7-1 on the season and will be taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday at the Clink for what may be a lopsided game based on the way things are going on in Tampa and the way that the Hawks are handling their opponents at home. The Rams are 3-5 now and will be staying home again next week with the Tennessee Titans coming to town.

My Prediction:
SEA over STL 19-9
Final Score:
SEA over STL 14-9
