(2)Oregon Ducks at (16)Washington Huskies

The Flag Stops Here

The Huskies have their work cut out for them this Saturday.

The crowd will be roaring, the house will be packed, and the Dawgs will be out! Also with the ESPN College Gameday crew coming to town for the first time, the only question that comes to my mind is, "Will someone really try and raise that Cougars flag in Huskies nation?" From what I have heard, someone has been raising a Washington State Cougars flag on ESPN College Gameday for over 10 years, well sorry to say Cougars fans but that stops this Saturday in Seattle.

Husky nation is well aware of this Gameday tradition and the word is out, The Flag Stops Here! The only thing you should be able to see behind Lee Corso on Saturday morning is a sea of purple.

The Washington Huskies are gonna have their hands full this Saturday when they take on the 2nd ranked Oregon Ducks. The last time the Ducks came to town a man by the name of LaMichael James was able to run all over the huskies, rushing for 156 yds and 1 TD, and the Huskies committed 3 turnovers for a route of 34-17. Well the Oregon Duck won't be dancing in the rain this time around. The Huskies Bishop Sankey, who is 4th in the nation in rushing yds with 732(7 TD's), will have a chance to show the nation why he was the nation's leading rusher for the beginning of the season when he runs the field on the Ducks defense that has been able to hold opponents under 16 pts a game.

Keith Price should be preparing for a career game if the Huskies want to have a shot to take down the Mighty Ducks from Eugene. Price has already thrown for 11 TD's and over 1300 yds thru the first 5 games but will need to keep the scoring coming to keep up with Mariota on the other sideline, who has scored 14 TD's and thrown only 36 yds less than Price. This should be heavy weight match-up that will have a major impact on the PAC-12 if the Huskies are able to upset the 2nd ranked Ducks. The real question that I have for the Huskies is whether or not they can involve TE Austin Sefarian-Jenkins into their offense a little bit more, since moving to their version of the hurry up offense Sefarian -Jenkins has had problems getting involved with the offense, whether its conditioning (He is 6'6 276lbs) or he is playing more of a decoy role, whatever it is Huskies coach Steve Sarkisian needs to figure it out and get that freak of nature the ball.

The Huskies defense will also have to step up if they want to have any chance at taking down PAC-12 North Division rival Oregon. Both teams are ranked in the top 5 in the nation in Total Yards per game (Oregon #2, Washington #5). A big piece of this defense is sophomore Shaq Thompson who was switched from LB this year after spending his freshman season at Safety. Thompson is averaging 8.7 tackles per game in his 4 games he has played in this season and is going to need every one of those 8 if he wants to have an impact in the game.

I see this game going down to the last QTR and if that is the case I see the Huskies and the home crowd making enough of a difference that the Huskies are able to pull this one out winning 37-36.

Thank you for reading - be sure to check out the game this Saturday, 1:00p.m. PST on Fox Sports 1.
